A Busker's Song - Keith Birmingham
01.23.2014
Standing on the sidewalk in the glaring sun,
Tryin' to make a living while I'm having fun.
But, no one seems to listen to the songs I play,
No one seems to notice me in any way.
People can you tell me now, the reason why
You look upon this world in such a dreary way.
And, why you never stop to watch the world go by.
And, why you never listen to the children cry.
And, can you tell me now, why you never seem to smile.
And, can you tell me now, why I never here you sing.
You come into this world in the usual way.
But, you never see the sun, and you never learn to play.
Life is but a journey that we all must take.
The path we choose to take is but the life we lead.
There's nothing but your mind to keep you in the dark.
All it ever takes is just a little spark.
So, sit and listen to me as I play my song.
Even if the key I sing is just all wrong.
Smile and say hello to a stranger on the street.
Sing a song with me, and let it sweep you off your feet.
Standing on the sidewalk in the glaring sun,
Tryin' to make a living while I'm having fun.
But, no one seems to listen to the songs I play,
No one seems to notice me in any way.
